I barely knew you
Yet I mourn your life
As if my own
were being taken
Instead of yours

I looked into my own eyes
And felt your essence
pulse in my veins

I loved you
As much as i love you
And you always knew the difference

I saw you standing
I saw you fall
I saw you laughing
I saw you crawl...

...into my heart

Somewhere between the pitter patter
that makes my life's sustenance
I found you lingering in my lungs
Fingering my love of air

of you

Because I need you to breathe
I need you to bleed
I need you to teach me to be

I need you to need me
And if I'm not enough
Then point me in the right direction
and i'll find more of me

So i can unequivocally
be who you need
